Who? What? Where? Why? - Answered!(in no particular order, mind you!)
Hey Guys! Mike and Leann Pass here. For those of you who don't know, we designed and developed shadesvalleysoftball.org back in 2004. We would like to give you a little history on that...
At that time (2004) our daughter, Ginna "G" (SVHS Softball #6 2nd baseman 2002-2005), was in her junior year of high school and her umteenth year in softball. Of course, we were at every softball game that we could possibly attend - snapping pictures left and right.
Honestly, we really feel being involved in team sports (and sports- period) is such a good thing for helping kids develop into responsible adults - that said, we truly just wanted to "give something back." Since we actually design, develop and market websites for people and businesses all over the globe for a living, we thought "Why not donate our time and expertise by designing and developing a really great site for the girls softball team?" The possibilities sounded good to us and to Ginna, so that is exactly what we did.

When we started taking photos of every single player and almost every game, at first we got some strange looks - over time though, everyone knew why we were taking photos of everyone. It was really cool when we starting getting waves and peace signs instead of the funny looks - FUN! - made for some great shots!
As for the future of this site, Ginna graduated in 2005 but we are determined that the site will live on - and we expect it to ... indefinitely.
Although we are no longer there taking photos all the time, we continue to run the site (keeping up the website domain, the gallery, redesigning when necessary - new site design 2006, etc.) and fortunately, Cheryl Holtzapfel (Brittany Holtzapfel's Mom) has taken on the roll of game photographer and site administrator - Please say thanks to Cheryl!! - we couldn't continue in 2006 without her hard work and persistence - you have no idea!
Be aware! In order for the team site to live on forever, we will need volunteers! We will keep up the domain and the site forever - but the future of this site depends on YOU! Anyone willing to donate a little time to take photographs at the games (at least starting 2008 - because Cheryl won't be there!) - start considering now! We all want to see the site grow and thrive over the years, Right?
No need to wait - You are welcome to participate now, just let us know you are interested in helping - we look forward to it!
In case you are wondering, NO, we are not affiliated with the school - this site was designed and developed by us for the girls - for the parents - for the fans. It is a volunteer effort with No school involvement.
We continue to develop, improve and maintain the site for the girls, parents and fans - just because we think it is worth it!
This is just a place - your place - to see photos and even share them with family and friends. A place where parents can see game photos, catch the news, get the schedule, get directions to the game, and more... A place of your own.
Personal note from Leann:
I really miss watching my little girls play softball (and yours too!) - more than I can even say. If I could give you any advice as a softball parent it would be - DON'T MISS OUT ON ANY OF YOUR DAUGHTER'S GAMES (or any of their ventures) unless you have no choice. You will really miss this one day! MARK MY WORDS!!!!!!!!!!
